Recipe # 2 " steamed fish my style"

My dad is on diet, okay... he is supposed to be :P, with me being his diet inspector, he is finding it tough !! Fried fish is a big "No NO" for him, so i thought i ll make some fish Paturi(bengali steamed fish) but he hates the pungency of mustard..so, i ended up making paturi without mustard or curd or mint..

Ingredients required:

Fish fillets - 6

 For the marinade:

turmeric powder - 1 tsp
chilli powder - 2 tsp
coriander powder -1 tsp
salt- required amount
ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
lemon juice
oil
1 onion cut into rings.

Banana leaves to wrap the fish

Method:

1.Wash the fish well, make sure the fillets are fleshy.
2. mix all the turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt, coriander powder,ginger-garlic paste and lemon juice in a bowl
3. marinate the fish fillet in the mixture
4. let the marinated fish sit for an hour
5. keep the onion rings in a bowl of water for a few minutes
6.Apply some oil on the plantain leaf, add an onion ring and wrap a piece of the marinated fish.(follow the same, for the rest of the fillets)
7.tie it with a thread or use a toothprick to close the wrap. make sure, it stays intact, cause you dont want the marinade running all over..
8. cook it for 10 - 15 minutes, in a "idly cooker" or a "bamboo steamer" if u got one..
9. Unwrap the plantain leaf and serve the steamed fish with rice.. AWESOMENESS :D

Bengalis add mustard paste to steamed fish, while malayalis add coconut paste!
